As a voice actor and studio/audio consultant, i hear a ton raw voice through all manner of different microphones. I've always appreciated Matt's methodical approach to microphone design and was interested to hear how the Mini K87 worked for narration, audiobook, commercial and character work in VO. I've used it extensively in my own set up since purchasing it, and have tested with a number of voice actors I work with. It's accurate without being "sizzly", handles sibilant voices well and has a great tone. This has become my most recommended microphone as it delivers a stunning amount of quality for the price. Well done!

I bought this mic because I wanted something neutral and un-hyped for audiobook narration. I had been using a Shure KSM44a, which is a super mic, but has a bit of a presence boost (like so many modern mics) that didn't play well with my sibilance. The mini-K87 not only tames my sibilance, thus requiring less processing (EQ, de-essing) but also has a beefier, thicker midrange that works well with my voice. I'm really happy with this mic!

A neutral sounding and very revealing microphone at an accessible price. Very happy with its performance. I picked the customised satin black finish and it is done well, looking gorgeous with the satin nickel grille. And I like its miniature design, it's less intrusive looking and at home with any setup.

At South Shore Recording Labs we record Bluegrass and all Acoustic music. We use a Roswell mini k87 HO on upright bass and a Roswell mini k47 on Dobro thru Rupert Neve preamps for a pure natural sound into a DAW.
