Probably the last microphone I’ll buy for a long time. Honestly, it lives up to the hype. Yes, it’s flat, but there’s a certain magic in how it captures sound. It handles post-processing beautifully, needing minimal adjustments to get a polished result.

I bought this mic because I wanted something neutral and un-hyped for audiobook narration. I had been using a Shure KSM44a, which is a super mic, but has a bit of a presence boost (like so many modern mics) that didn't play well with my sibilance. The mini-K87 not only tames my sibilance, thus requiring less processing (EQ, de-essing) but also has a beefier, thicker midrange that works well with my voice. I'm really happy with this mic!

I really love how I sound on this mic. For me, it's a full, warm, rich, and very pleasant sounding microphone, with none of the hyped unpleasantness that was problematic for me with the TLM 103. It just sounds great - period. I am quite taken with the K87, and I can't imagine a voice it wouldn't sound great on - I'll recommend it to anyone I know who might be looking for an awesome microphone.

With the AKG C414 XLS I was always having to scoop tons of low mids, and then the highs were often kinda harsh. I had recorded a vocal recently through the AKG, so I recorded the same part through the Roswell, through the same preamp etc, and I thought the Roswell completely smashed the AKG out of the water. It sounds so rich and smooth - a perfect base to then go in and add more colorful EQ [if desired], rather than having to do initial damage control with EQ like with the AKG.

My Roswell mic is bloody awesome! I primarily do voiceover and narration, and it is so mellow. My voice chain is just [a] high-pass filter and light compression now. The Mini K87 really works with my baritone voice. You have one very happy customer!

I have been through 20 mics, including the U 87 Ai, the MKH416, TLM103, JZ V11, Shure KSM32... so on. I used to hate my voice until I bought this Mini K87. I can't believe it is as good as it is, but it is.

I plugged the Mini k87 into my interface, made one minor adjustment and started recording. I am an audiobook narrator with over 200 titles to my credit as well as 400 or so short stories that stream on all platforms. The k87 mini is a powerful mic, it has a rich sound and I’ve never sounded better!

This is a fantastic mic and I'm extremely pleased to have chosen it. It sounds amazing; I don't know how it manages to both stay so neutral and yet impart its own character.

I'm using this microphone and a few others as part of a dramatic audio podcast I'm creating. I replaced one of my earlier mics with the mini-K87 and I'm impressed with the results, as the k87 is so much easier to EQ than the previous mic's recordings were. It's made my mind up for certain--I'm in the process of saving up to purchase one more microphone, and it will definitely be another mini-k87!
