The mic is awesome. It's on par with my [$1700 tube mic]. It has u87 qualities, and the added colour is very flattering and natural. Almost no eq needed for vocals or acoustic guitar.
The guitar player's lead tone was bad, so I had him send me DI solos to reamp. I tried my normal mic selection, as well as the Mini K67x. It won by a landslide.
I have been using the K67x regularly on female and male R&B and Rock vocals and I am completely blown away. It sounds amazing and easily outperforms much more expensive mics we have in the school’s locker.
I really like the color and weight it has. The color doesn't take away from the clarity. It is definitely my favorite Mini K for vocals.

Since getting my new K67x it has earned a place in the centre of my studio. It lives on the boom stand on my desk and I have not unplugged it since it arrived. Spoken word, sung vocals, guitar, acoustic bass guitar, banjo, mandolin, percussion, it makes them all sparkle and shine.
The mic's name, "K67x," refers both to the capsule design and circuit topology. The capsule is based on the K67, although we've built and voiced it with some proprietary tricks to create a sound unlike any other K67 capsule. The "x" in the model name refers to the transformer-coupled circuit, which gives the mic its trademark harmonic saturation.
This combination introduces a new color to the Mini K product line. The mic is not overtly colored, like the Mini K47, nor is it quite as flat and neutral as the Mini K87. The sonic inspiration for this model was the workhorse tube mic of the 1960s, which offered wideband frequency response and harmonics. We kept those characteristics in this incarnation.
Every Roswell microphone is subjected to a 24-hr "burn in" on our proprietary conditioning fixture, then tested extensively prior to shipping: polarity, noise, frequency response, sensitivity, and more. We perform an acoustic sweep test and listen to every microphone multiple times before it leaves our facility.

The Mini K67x introduces two unique new sounds to the Mini K product line: the capsule voicing, and the harmonic saturation of the circuit.
The capsule is a 34mm (large diaphragm) design. As the mic's name suggests, the capsule is nominally a K67 type, but we invested two years' worth of research and development to create a proprietary, "Holy Grail" voicing: full bass without wooliness, slight attenuation in the sibilance range, neutral highs, and extended "air" above 10kHz.
The circuit design borrows from our flagship Colares microphone; it is a single-stage JFET/transformer topology, built around a selected vintage European-made output capacitor, the best-sounding modern filter capacitors on the market, and a custom wound output transformer (which barely fits inside the mic body).
The capacitor feeding the JFET is a critical component to the mic's sound. We've designed a custom bipolar electrolytic, with a special formulation of electrolyte that was initially developed for the legendary Black Gate line of capacitors.
Internal gain staging is carefully set for each individual mic to produce harmonic saturation at moderate SPL. This allows the Mini K67x to evoke the sound of vintage tube microphones, creating harmonics to complement the source, although without adding noise or crushing transients the way some tube mics would.

Loving my k67x. Sounds beautiful on vocals but here it is setup for acoustic guitar. Remarkably detailed but full sounding mic. A big part of it for me is also the small form factor. Easy to set up, easy to get tones, and sounds as good as mics many multiples of its price. I indulged a bit in the custom shop colors, badge, and grill, which was well worth it. It's a beauty to look at; it's a beauty to listen to.
This is a no nonsense, high quality and potentially great value mic. Great addition to my studio. The Mini K67x shines on vocals and acoustic guitars. Highly recommended. UK customers please note and account for having to pay an extra $125 on top of the purchase price, for the carrier’s UKGov HMRC tax release fees.

I've owned this mic for a few years already. This little slayer sounds way better than its priced! Beautiful silky top end, with very nice harmonics from the transformer. This mic has worked in every source I've put it in front of... Vocals, acoustic guitars, mandolin, etc. I specially love it on acoustic instruments on a really crowded song. This brings things upfront with a shiny top end that never gets harsh or hissy. It is also a very convenient size, which makes it easy for travel. I have very comfortably traveled with this mic, leaving all my expensive tube mics at home without the fear of missing out. The K67X has your back.
Hello Darkness My Old Friend! I narrate audiobooks and the mini K67x mic has the perfect voicing for this application. My previous mic (Shure KSM44a) was quite good—low noise (important for spoken word) and uncolored. However, it was somewhat bright--not TLM103 bright, but bright. That didn't do my sibilant voice any favors. The mini K67x has 5 features that work perfectly for me: (1) It has a nice low-mid weight that adds heft to my voice without sounding boomy. (2) Unlike many modern mics, it is flat throughout the sibilant range, so I can do less-severe de-essing in post. (3) the transformer adds some subtle harmonic saturation to my voice that I like. (the KSM44a is transformerless and I'd add some saturation in post) (4) the self-noise is extremely low. I'm an electrical engineer by day and couldn't resist a peak inside—there are some impressive tricks to minimize noise that I can tell increased the assembly time, but the result is well worth it. (5) While there is a dip in the sibilant frequencies, the mic still has AIR to it. Yes, it is a DARK mic, but it isn't DULL. That's critical for intelligibility when I narrate. I absolutely love the voicing. So how is it working out? I got my latest audiobook gig with this mic and I have needed to do SO LITTLE work to get the sound I want for the client. For audiobooks, this mic gets me closer to the end result I want >at the source< than any mic I've tried. The mini K67x is not just great "for the price", it's simply great. I appreciate how Matt at Roswell kept the cost down wisely by putting the money were it matters most: to the sound.
First of all Matt was awesome at helping me select mics for my studio that matched what I was trying to do musically. I like the Mini K67x on Electric and Acoustic guitar, Female Vocals, and Backing Vocals. The Transformer is nice when you saturate the signal. I like the sound this mic has a vintage air to it, there is less low end than the Mini K87 and less Midrange than the Mini K47/47x. This mic is good on most sources and is currently rigged in my vocal booth while I have a Mini K87 in my main recording room for talkback, layering lead vocals and bass heavy instruments. Thanks Matt & Roswell Pro Audio. My mics shipped next day locally within Sonoma County so that was great service. The custom blue finish I couldn't resist and looks way nicer. We put a silver dot in the mic port to let us know which was the 67x and which was the 87. They both sound very nice through my mixing console direct into Pro Tools, very nice mics. I can't wait to put them through my new vocal chain (WA 73 EQ/BLA Bluey 1176 Clone/Tascam Model 12 Mixer - Pro Tools).
Love this 67x! I mostly record vocals and acoustic guitar in my studio, and this thing sounds great on both! Haven't picked up another microphone since I opened the box!
The K67x was used today in a hobbiest studio on an acoustic guitar, and will be used later for violin and vocals. It's a gem. Smooth and easier than many in It's class to "get right".
Before I owned one myself, I'd used a K67x on a home session, capturing a vocal I was certain was the keeper. I had the opportunity during a subsequent studio session to record a vocal for the same song with a vintage Neumann U67. As much as I love the U67, the Roswell was clearly the right mic for the job in this case. Besides vocals, I've been using it on acoustic and electric guitars. We're mid-construction of a basement studio and I look forward to soon trying the K67 on drums. I have a K87 as well and I like to use, say, the 67 for lead vox and the 87 for harmonies (or vice versa, depending on the song.) Gorgeous-sounding mics. (And the custom Deep Purple finish was something I couldn't resist!)
I got these K67s on the advice of Warren Huart and Matt McGlynn. I am very pleased with performance of these mics. I've used them on the Steinway grand as well as drum kit overheads and they really shine in both applications. Thank you Roswell for making mics that are so useful and affordable. Awesome sound on everything!
Only had for couple weeks but after comparing to 3 other 67 clones I have, It's making recording and mixing so much easier. Definitely a favorite, tried it with other male singers and they chose it over my other mics and I have a well stocked mic locker. Wish I'd known about this before I bought the others could have saved over 4 grand. Really makes vocals pop to the front of mix. Initially intended for vocals but after testing it to record acoustic guitar I was amazed at how good it makes the acoustic sound, plus I don't have to EQ anywhere near what I did and uses less gain on preamps. Everything that's been recorded with it sounds so balanced and up front no muddiness or harsh bright shrill. Now I have to try the MINI K47 see how much more I've over spent. Keep up the excellent work Roswell.

Just tried this mic for the first time: bringing it up through channel 14 of my vintage Quad Eight Pacifica - using a Warm Audio WA76 to bring it a little closer. Fantastic! I can't say enough about this mic - it seems to capture the nuances of my vocal better than anything I've ever tried. I'll be trying it on another male vocal this week, along with the MiniK47 and Minik87. So far, I am extremely impressed with the sound, build quality and design of this microphone.
Sounded great as single room mic and single overhead on drums, well balanced. Gave it a try in the camper with the battery amp, certainly didn't sound like it wasn't a regular amp, sounded better than in person.

Awesome mic. I was looking for a mic to improve my home recordings of nylon and steel string acoustic guitar and am super impressed with the k67x. I’m no audio engineer nor am I an expert on different mics but I know what sound I’m looking for. Somehow this mic helps me capture the acoustic guitar sound that is in my head :).
I've used the Mini K67x in two sessions, two different guitarists, two different amps, two different styles. I'm really pleased with the clean, clear sound. I was also pleasantly surprized by the backside rejection as placement was within the same room as the drum kit. I've owned a matched pair of Mini K47's for a couple of years which I've used as drum overheads, on acoustic guitars and even for recording bell choirs and vocal choirs. No matter which Roswell product I purchase, I always feel I've received tremendous value for my money.

I love this mic. I spent many hours researching after facing disappointment with the boxy/dull sounding mics I have. It sounds phenomenal on vocals and guitar so far. It has a very nice character to it and has elevated the quality of my recordings to a new level that I didn’t know was possible at this price range. Matt was incredibly welcoming and answered all of my questions and I’m happy to say this was the right mic for me!
This mic sounds CLEAN! It picks up my voice without bass / low-end added. I'm not a pro when it comes to mics, but this mic sounds a lot more 'neutral' (flat) and closer to what my voice actually sounds like. I use it for rock vocals.
The Mini K67x is designed to be a tubeless tube style transformer mic [x in the name means transformer] this mic will sound like the U67, 251, or the C800G/WA8000. There is a frequency response very similar to their mini K87 which is a U87 based mic, natural frequency response with transformer harmonic saturation. I like this on acoustic guitar, female vocals, male vocals, overheads, piano and electric guitar amps. It excells where you need some top end detail out of a very dark mic with a natural response. I have only gotten to demo spoken word so far but I love this mic. It will best mics many times more expensive even with tubes. This mic is tubeless. Enjoy!

Very nicely made, heavy and solid. Love the cut away shock mount. When I first tested it on vocal and acoustic guitar, I plugged it directly into my TC interface preamp. I thought it sounded good, but not what I expected. My impression was that it sounded like a first generation c414 with a 67 capsule. A bit gritty. However, when I plugged it into my API clone pre (from a well-known Texas manufacturer) it came to life! WOW! Very impressive. Big, phat, 3d, smooth deep and present all the same time! Very plosive resistant and not sibilant at all. Beautiful vocal sound! I now have a different opinion of the 67x than my initial impression. Through a high quality preamp, it sounds, to my ear, somewhere between a U67 and a U47, and way more tubey (tubish?) then it did through the interface pre. If I didn't know what microphone I was hearing, I would assume that it was a tube Neumann or Telefunken. I could not be more impressed with the sound of this microphone! An amazing bargain. The Mini K67x will be a go to choice from now on. Fantastic on every source I've tested it on. Just make sure you test these Roswell microphones through a high quality preamp before you make a judgment. They are top quality and deserve a top quality pre!

Regarding preamps, I would say that many Roswell customers are using the preamps built into their audio interfaces, and getting great results that way. I would not say that any of these mics *need* a boutique preamp. That said, if you have access to boutique preamps, by all means, use them; you might find some combinations you prefer!
