Sonic Diversity

What's in YOUR Mic?

All Roswell microphones are built in small batches, the way famous European brands used to do it. Every mic is hand-soldered with point-to-point input circuits. PCBs are manually cleaned. Assembled mics are burned in for 24 hours, then individually QC'd, including a frequency sweep, noise test, EMI test, sensitivity test, and microphonics test.

All Roswell microphones use bespoke large-diaphragm capsules: 34mm diameter, true condenser, brass backplates, Dupont Mylar diaphragms plated with gold. The Mini K47 and Mini K47x use K47 capsules (single backplate); each with different capsule tunings. The Mini K87, Mini K67x, and Delphos II use K67 capsules (dual backplate); the K67x capsule uses a unique and proprietary tuning. The Colares uses an edge terminated design based on the CK-12.

Our "Mini K" microphones use machine steel mic bodies, to reduce EMI/RFI. The finish is heat treated for durability.

All Roswell microphones use vintage circuit designs, which we've optimized and tuned to raise sensitivity and lower self-noise. Each hand-picked component was chosen to make the microphone sound better. Resistors are 1% tolerance metal film parts. Transistors are "new old stock." Transformers are custom wound with high-grade magnet wire and oversized nickel lamination. Film capacitors are vintage European parts.

The internal wiring on all Roswell microphones is military spec, high-purity multistrand copper, silver plated, insulated with Teflon.
